Frequently Asked Questions
What level do I need?
You can take the IELTS exam at any level, but students often need a B1-B2 level of English to achieve the 6.0-7.0 score they need to attend university.
In our free introduction call I will assess your level and if I believe the test is too difficult I will advise you on next steps and how to prepare.
What if I don’t get the score I need?
The exam is stressful and unpredictable, and many people don’t get the score they want the first time.
We will review the exam together and discuss areas to improve, and I will be happy to correct your essays and provide feedback even after the course is finished.
What are classes like?
I believe people learn best when they are relaxed and motivated. In each class we will focus on one specific part of the exam, using worksheets, exam techniques, and guided practice.
Homework will be tailored to suit your needs and target weaknesses. I’ll provide written feedback after each submitted task and mock exam.
How long is the course?
Courses are designed to suit your timetable. The standard course is 10 hours, usually taken in five 2 hour classes. This could be over one week or several months, depending on your availability.
If you wish to extend the course or have other requirements this can be discussed.
When can I start?
There is a popular expression “The best time to start was yesterday. The second best time is today!“
Taking the exam, and starting a course, are scary prospects. Book a free introduction call today and we can start your journey together as soon as tomorrow!
Can we focus on one part of the exam?
After we have our introduction call I will give you my opinion on what your strengths and weaknesses are. I think it’s a good idea to look at each part of the exam in detail, but we can definitely focus on specific areas if that is what we both think is best for you.
